The 3-Hour Rule

I've discovered something powerful over the years: everyone needs time for themselves, guilt-free. That's why I created what I call the "three-hour rule." The concept is simple - take three hours each day to do whatever YOU want to do.

Now, before you say, "I don't have three hours!" Let me explain. These three hours are cumulative. They don't need to be taken all at once, and they don't need to be spent the same way. Maybe it's 15 minutes in the morning reading a book, an hour at lunch going for a walk, and sometime in the evening watching your favorite show.

I know for many people, especially single parents, finding even an hour seems impossible. But whether it's waking up 30 minutes earlier or staying up a bit later - try to find those moments. They matter more than you think.

I'm talking about little pockets of time throughout the day reserved just for you. And here's the key - when you're in that time, you don't feel guilty that you're not with your family, at work, or doing something else.

Why is this so important? Because if you don't take time for yourself, you'll end up resenting the people and responsibilities that prevent you from doing what you love. That resentment can poison everything else in your life.
Research backs this up. Taking breaks to be "unproductive" actually makes you more productive when it's time to work. It also makes you happier overall - something we shouldn't take lightly in today's fast-paced world.

So whether it's practicing your golf swing in the backyard, meditation, reading, or just sitting quietly with your thoughts, make time for what feeds your soul. Your three hours (or even just one) don't need to be Instagram-worthy or productive. They just need to be yours.

Remember: life isn't just about being productive. Sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is absolutely nothing at all.
