You're Only A Virgin Once

I was having lunch with my friend Turney when I noticed my phone buzzing. It was my publisher calling and I’d submitted my manuscript for Living with a Seal a few weeks prior so...

I quickly got up and took the call outside.

After about five minutes I returned to the table.

He could see disappointment on my face.

“What’s wrong?’

I told him that I had just got my pub date for the book, and it was all the way out to November.

“I don’t want to wait,” I said. “I want to publish sooner.”

“You’re only a virgin once,” he said.

And it all clicked. This was my first ever published book. I should enjoy as much of the process as I can.

That moment reminded me that this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Patience isn't just about waiting—it's about embracing and cherishing every step of a journey that, once passed, becomes a cherished memory.
