The $10 Million Dollar Test

Recently, a friend of mine was in an unhappy place. Normally, he was an upbeat guy, fun to be around, but he was in a prolonged funk.

Life had become an uphill climb, and he couldn’t see the top of the mountain. I had to do something to try and help him.

“What if I gave you $10 million,” I asked. “What would you do then?”

“I’d move to California,” he said. “Like, today.”

Well, I have good news and bad news, I told him. The bad news is I am not giving you $10 million. But the good news is, nothing is stopping you from moving to California... like, today.

People are always waiting for something to happen before they change their lives: when I get a promotion then I’ll change, when I save up enough money, when I get the job of my dreams, when I meet Mr. or Mrs. Right. But that kind of thinking is backward. Change isn’t something that happens. Change is something you make happen.

Change can seem overwhelming, but embracing it can be transformative. By busting out of a routine, you get to meet new people, make new friends, promote personal growth, and find a new perspective. Change can be a powerful ally. By recognizing change as a positive force, individuals can unlock their potential for healing, growth, and a brighter future. And, who knows, you might even find some happiness.

If your life needs a change, change it. Move to California. Find a new job. Ask the girl or guy of your dreams on a date. One thing is for sure, if you wait for someone to give you $10 million, nothing is going to change.
